Regional Water Team Days of the Sub-RésEAU: MENA
May 5 - May 7
Water Team Days, which are face-to-face meetings, are the main tool for learning exchange in the RésEAU and Sub-RésEAUs. The Regional Water Team Days of the MENA region (RWTD) will be held from 05-07 May 2019, hosted by the SDC Regional Office in Amman.
Water and sanitation are key priorities of the new Swiss Cooperation Strategy in the Middle East and North Africa for 2019-2022. The region covers projects from the Humanitarian Aid, the Global Programme Water and the Regional Cooperation divisions in ten countries: Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, oPT, Yemen, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, and Turkey. Most of the countries from the MENA region are facing similar issues and constraints such as humanitarian crisis, water scarcity, mismanagement of water resources and poor governance. It thus makes exchange at regional level particularly interesting.
The creation of a Sub-RéSEAU in the MENA region aims at:
- Assuring knowledge and information flow between the projects in the Middle East (Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan) with the projects in the Northern Africa (Yemen, Tunisia, Egypt, and Morocco) with the view to create a MENA approach with a thematic focus going beyond WASH interventions;
- Identifying best practices in the region that may be replicated;
- Promoting peer support and exchange with the organization of capacity building activities;
