“The Human Right to Water and Sanitation: From Recognition to Implementation”

In the framework of the “International Seminar on Planning, Budgeting, Investment and Good Practices in Water Sector” that took place in Maputo, Mozambique, from 3 to 5 December 2013, WaterLex organised  in cooperation with the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency a workshop on the human right to water and sanitation and how to contribute to its implementation in Mozambique.

The workshop aimed at clarifying the meaning of the human right to water and sanitation and the implications it has for different key water stakeholders. It also presented the WaterLex Toolkit for the Realisation of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation, a practical guide to contribute to its implementation using a Human Rights Based Approach.

The 40 participants included governmental representatives at the national and provincial levels, development practitioners and civil society partners. Participants underlined the fact that this is a new topic for Mozambique and pointed to the need for additional trainings at the provincial level to support the implementation of this human right.

WaterLex offers tailored trainings on how to implement the human right to water and sanitation. If you are interested in receiving more information or organising a similar workshop please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
