The NHRI Common Platform was launched on the occasion of World Water Day 2016. For this occasion, all National Human Rights Institutions were invited to a cocktail reception held at the WMO building in Geneva, where they were introduced to the various functions of the Platform.

With the support of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the NHRI Common Platform has been established for the NHRI Water Initiative. The NHRI Common Platform is a one-of-a-kind platform that allows NHRIs to strengthen their role in a human rights based water governance. It allows member institutions to have a peer-to-peer exchange, share knowledge and good practices, and have access to training resources and capacity building tools.

All NHRI Water Initiative members are invited to participate actively and become active ‘owners’ of the platform content as each NHRI is an ‘ambassador’ for the platform.

WaterLex, which acts as a host of the NHRI Water Initiative secretariat, invites all interested NHRIs to contact us at nhri(at)waterlex.org to join the platform and for additional information.
